are scholarships and grants offered at the SNA web site for members and their
family members. They are for continuing education or finishing a GED.

Below
are the requirements and application dates for the SNA Heart of the Program
Award, NDSNA Member of the Year Award and the Louise Sublet Award.
SNA
Heart of the Program Award –The award is designed to recognize an
outstanding school foodservice employee who exhibits an extraordinary commitment
to the school foodservice program.
1. Who is
eligible
- An
SNA member in the Foodservice Employee/Manager section excluding managers.
- Certified
by SNA certification program
- Employed
in a school foodservice and nutrition program.
2. General
Qualifications
- The
award is given to someone who is nominated – you cannot nominate or
recommend yourself for this award.
- Only
one person per school may be nominated.
- Nominations
must originate and be submitted by school employees.
- Entries
are judged on
customer service
creativity
professional growth and training
willingness to “go the extra mile”
work attendance.
3. How and
when to submit nominations
- Complete
nomination form (see attached)
- Submit
completed form and an official attendance record to

4. Recognition
- State
winner is announced at the spring conference and receives a red heart-shaped
pin and a certificate.
- State
winner’s entry is submitted for regional competition.
State winner is recognized at SNA’s Annual National
Convention.
NDSNA
Member of the Year – The award is given annually to an individual who
deserves special recognition for his /her contribution to NDSNA and to his /her
school food service program.

NDSNA member, chapter, board member, or supervisor

Entries are judged on
Things you have done to benefit or improve the school foodservice
Involvement in an NDSNA chapter, NDSNA, or SNA
Future goals in school food service
Why I enjoy school food service
·
A letter of reference from an administrator or director must
accompany entry form.

Recognition

The state winner is announced at the spring conference and
receives a plague and a $100 monetary reward.

Louise
Sublette Award – The award is given to the person who has taken a
special idea, developed it into a goal and used that goal to help the school’s
nutrition program grow.
1. Who may apply
·
A SNA member in the
Foodservice Employee/Manager Section
·
Certified by SNA certification program
·
Employed in a child nutrition program as a Foodservice
Employee/Manager or food service assistant.
2. Project Qualifications
·
Project completion must have occurred no more than 11 months prior
to being submitted.
·
No project can take two years to complete
3. How and when to apply
·
Complete Memorandum of Intent and

by December 1, 2011.
·
Once the letter of intent is received from you, you will receive
the entry form and project report form.
·

plaque and expense paid trip to the Annual National Convention.
